of the best houses of Mongkok, it is also to be considered that there are numerous eligible situations within this distance of one mile in the interior.

The proposed occupation of these heights need not interfere with the execution of the Cross roads projected by the Surveyor General.

As the whole of the heights above-mentioned will be fully occupied by the Barrack buildings, Hospital and Batteries with their glacis, it is necessary that building ground be reserved elsewhere for the Quarters of such staff and Departmental Officers as may hereafter be moved there from Hongkong.

The site will be very suitable for this purpose if not required for a Naval Hospital, or if so required, then a piece of ground (about 8 acres) adjacent to it, which should be reserved.

The remaining portion of land for Military purposes having been specified in the first or joint portion of this Report - there is no necessity to refer to them here - further than to state the extent required for Military and Commissariat Stores, the former about 500 feet sea frontage by 450 feet depth, and for the latter about 200 feet sea frontage by the same depth.

I must also add that I consider the valley A, which was jointly considered suitable for an encamping ground, should be in charge of the War Department.
